Learn Phonics the Inkstall Way

Reading starts with sounds. We teach children how letters and sounds fit together, one small step at a time, so they can read new words on their own instead of guessing.

The Science of Reading

Children do not pick up reading just by looking at books. They need to be shown, clearly and in order, how sounds map to letters. Our program follows that research, and keeps it playful so it never feels like drilling.

Phonics Curriculum

Inkstall's phonics curriculum is designed to build strong reading skills from the ground up. By focusing on key phonics components, including letter sounds, syllable patterns, and fluency, we help children decode words, improve reading comprehension, and grow their vocabulary.

What Your Child Learns, Step by Step

Every child moves at their own speed, but the order matters. Each stage builds on the one before it.

1

Hearing sounds

Before letters come in, children learn to hear the separate sounds in a word through rhymes, clapping syllables and “I spy” style games.
2

Letter sounds

Each letter is linked to the sound it makes (not just its name), with actions and pictures that make it stick.
3

Blending

Children push sounds together to read short words like c-a-t and s-u-n, and pull them apart again to spell.
4

Sound teams and tricky words

Pairs like sh, ch and ee, long vowel patterns, and common words that do not follow the rules, such as “the” and “said”.
5

Reading with confidence

Short stories that use the sounds already learned, so children read whole sentences smoothly and start to enjoy it.

Inside a Phonics Class

Warm up

A quick game with sounds your child already knows, so every class starts with a win.

One new sound or pattern

The teacher introduces it with a picture, an action and lots of repetition.

Read and write it

Your child blends real words using the new sound, then tries spelling a few.

Story time

A short story brings the sound into sentences, with a couple of questions to check understanding.

Impact of Phonics Learning with Inkstall

Impact of Phonics Learning

Students with Inkstall's phonics program show stronger reading proficiency and confidence.

You usually notice it in small moments first: your child sounding out a word on a sign, picking up a book without being asked, or correcting you when you read a story wrong. That is when reading stops being a task and starts being theirs.

Stories That Teach & Inspire

Stories that teach and inspire

Kids dive into story adventures, following characters they grow to love. Our stories bring humor, emotional learning, and relatable scenarios to life, all while reinforcing vocabulary and checking for comprehension to ensure meaningful learning.

How You Can Help at Home

You do not need to be a teacher. A few minutes a day makes a real difference.

  • Read together for ten minutes a day. Let your child point to the words.
  • Ask them to sound out words on shop signs, cereal boxes and road signs.
  • When they get stuck, ask “what sound does that make?” instead of giving the word.
  • Praise the effort, not just the right answer. Confidence matters more than speed at this stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most children start phonics when they begin to read, often between 4 and 7. Older children who find reading hard benefit too. The demo class shows us where your child should start.
